Highland West Choir On the Rise

 Highland West Junior High Choir of Moore, conducted by Jera Kiespert , is shooting for and reaching the stars.  The choir, in the last few years, has taken great strides in becoming a fantastic group.   

This fall six students from HWJH auditioned for the 06-07 Oklahoma Junior High All-State Choir.  The students did an outstanding job!  Over 2000 students auditioned for this select choir and Highland West’s, Alaura Borrego, Sheridan Bishop, and Tyler Baker, were all chosen to participate in the 200 voice choir.   

These students will spend three days rehearsing at the Cox Convention Center and will perform a final concert Saturday, January 13^th at 2:00p.m.at the First Nazarene Church, Bethany.   

Not only are these students making an appearance at the state level but they are busy with numerous local activities.  The choir was well received as they sang the National Anthem at the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets’ game.  This was the second year the choir was asked to perform for the NBA game.   

Their upcoming December events include a collaborative men’s concert at the University of Oklahoma , a combined Moore Junior High Winter Concert, and nursing home community caroling.
