STUDENTS TAKE PART IN ROSE PARADE
Several
of our students in the
Moore
school district were at this year's 118th Tournament of Roses Parade in
Pasadena
,
California
. The students performed in celebration of
Oklahoma
's Centennial year: 2007. These students were a part of the Oklahoma
All-Star Centennial Band. This band, conducted by native Oklahoman and
former Walt Disney World Band conductor Michael Davis, features 150 of the
most talented high school musicians from across
Oklahoma
. The All Star Band was created for the sole purpose of celebrating our one
hundredth year as a state! All participating students auditioned for their
parts and rehearsed during the summer and fall months. After traveling half
way across the nation, the centennial band landed a smash hit show in the
opening of the Tournament of Roses Parade and received highest praises from
many of the spectators, announcers, and judges of the parade.
Students
in the
Moore
School District
who made the band were:
Westmoore
High School
: Daniel Wojciechowski, snare drum; Joshua Attaway, trombone; Lauren
Westbrook, piccolo; Ryan Buggs, tenor drums; William Herndon, trumpet; Tyler
Burkhart, trumpet.
Moore
High School

The one and only Oklahoma All Star Centennial Band will continue to perform
throughout the 2007 year. Congratulations to all participants for a job well
done!
