PHILOSOPHY of READING

The major goal of an effective reading program is to develop strategic readers who are knowledgeable about the reading process. The reading process is developmental and students progress at their own rate. Effective instruction moves the student from dependence to independence. The best practice for continued reading progress is by providing time for the practice of silent reading. Readings is a life-long developmental process, it must be promoted and reinforced from early childhood through high school and beyond.
