PHILOSOPHY of ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTSEnglish language arts, the foundation of all learning, is the integrated study of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing. Through a study of the language arts, students learn to use and interpret spoken, written, electronic, and visual texts and messages. By studying the processes – how people communicate, and the content – what they communicate, students learn the knowledge, skills, and strategies that enable them to solve problems and to think and respond critically across all curriculum areas and to real-life situations.
